Oh the rangers are shite...

Live in The Huddle Bar...

Sunday from 12pm

Celtic v Rangers

Time it goes so fast....

when you're having fun.... it's just another manic monday!

Welcome back to the blog!

Soooo, whats new? The Huddle Bar has had an excellent month with many faces old and new joining in the fun. Honourable mentions to Motherwell, Livingston, Aberdeen, Croy, Dumbarton, Coventry, Portsmouth and Glasgow(obviously!!).

The DVD review of Celtics title winning season is on the way over and we'll be having an exclusive preview session in the bar... watch this space!

The weather in Ibiza is reaching untold new heights! I'm melting. Usually we get 1 day of rain in the last week of August so can't wait for that. Not had a drop since May!

Live is life....

..... na na na na na!

Tuesday 7pm FKB Kaunus v Scotlands Shame

Wednesday 8pm Hoops v Manchester City

Sunday 1pm Hoops v St. Mirren and flag unfurling!!!

It's been a long time...

... I shouldn't have left you, without a strong rhyme to step to!

Hellooooo... and welcome back. Firstly, I apologise for leaving you all high and dry but it's been a really busy month in Huddle World.

My sincerest thanks to all of Julys customers.... too many to mention but i hope you've all seen your pics in the photo album. A special mention to Mul, Murphy, Lee, Big Stu etc.... legends, each and every one of you!

So, we're into August, it's 40 degrees here and the Huddle bar is buzzing. Welcome back to the Italian Bhoys, East Kilbride and Linwood.

Tha bar has been packed for all the pre-season games despite the mediocre football from the Hoops. New signings needed......... look out for Tamas, Bassa, Simic, Crossas and Robinson..... 3 out of that 5 within a week or I'll eat my hat!

Live games....

1st of the new season.

18th July 20:00

Hoops v Southampton.

See you there!

I say goodbye......

..... you say hello!

Goodbye to everyone who was here in June...... we'll miss you all.

Hello to East Kilbride, Motherwell, Bellshill, Wishaw (thanks for getting me drunk 3 nights in a row ladies!), Newport, Swansea, Brighton and the 'Sean South' lads from last year!!

Hello also to Darek and his new wife, the friends of Secret Agent Donegal and karaoke Paul and his wife.

Ibiza club news...

A few wee updates.....

Tiesto........ rocks. The 1st might since Manumission was at it's best to totally kill the West End and Ibiza town. Made it inside to catch the end of his gig only because of people i know. Tickets easy to buy but the stopped anyone entering after 3-45 due to exceeding capacity! Remember, the clubs have no control over how many tickets are sold.

Carl Cox @ Space. See above!!!

Cream... mixed reviews. Mr Van Dyk is not on form so far. Go on the alternate weeks when he's not here!

Judgement Sunday.... struggling. No longer San Antonios busiest night.

Wonderland (Pete Tong) @ Eden.... Good. See it this Summer... likely not to be here next year!

Tidy... totally shafted by Clubland @ Es Paradis. Resorted to offering tickets for 12€

Huddle Bar.... rebellious as ever!!!

Live Music

Alex and Eduardo will be back on Thursday night with their usual eclectic range of acoustic guitar music.... yes, even the Prodigy.

Fun starts around 11pm.

Bassline...

... shooting up my spine!

Went to Bassline v Garage Classics at Es Paradis last night... major disappointment. The music was bland at best and the crowd were quick to empty out. A complete lack of atmosphere. I think the genre has potential but they need to inject some enthusiasm!

Some other notes re: club events this Summer.

Judgement Sunday - Eden - Still busy... why?
Twice as Nice - Eden - Still busy... understandable.
Pete Tong - Eden - Cleaning up on a Friday night
Clubland - Es Paradis - A very very busy night for the new kid in town. Expect to see at Eden next year!
Manumission - Amnesia - Is it still on?
Cream - Amnesia - Packed, popular and pricey!
Tiesto - Privelege - Coming soon
Pacha - Solid as ever every night with the beautiful people
DC10 - Bye Bye!!!

I'm melting!!!

It's well into the 30's now every day here in 'sunny' San Antonio and it's only gonna get hotter.

The Huddle Bar was packed last night for the Euro 2008 final between Spain and Germany. The best team won at the end of a very exciting match. Spain have played the best football of the tournament and are worthy winners.

My pick for team of the Euros....

Goalkeeper - Boruc (Poland)

Defenders - Philipp Lahm (Germany), Carlos Marchena (Spain), Pepe (Portugal), Carles Puyol (Spain)

Midfielders - Luka Modric (Croatia), Marcos Senna (Spain), Michael Ballack (Germany), Cesc Fabregas (Spain)

Forwards: Andrei Arshavin (Russia), David Villa (Spain)

Cheerio to the Hamilton Bhoys... thanks for the shirts!
Welcome to all the new arrivals this week..... there's a lot of you!

Viva España / Ciao Italia

The best team won, though it took a penalty shootout to separate them. there were fireworks and car horns blaring all over San Antonio as the game drew to it's dramatic end. Spain will now play Russia on Thursday whilst Germany take on Turkey the day before.

The exciting news I promised a couple of weeks ago should happen this week.... watch this space!

Weather update - pushing mid 30's all weekend and looking to get hotter.... thank goodness for air-con!!!

Live Music!

The Huddle Bar will be hosting a live music session on Wednesday night after the football. Alex and Eduardo will be playing a wide range of music and anyone who wants to join in will be more than welcome.

Orange Out!

So Holland crashed out of the Euros last night to a well organised Russia..... I didn't see that one coming.

Hellos to all the new arrivals last night... the busiest night in the Huddle so far this Summer. Also was totally surprised to meet up with an old school pal I haven't seen for over 20 years!!!

Saturday, June 21, 2008

What a week...

Football, football and more football. Some classic games at the Euros so far. germany seem to have their half of the draw sewn up whereas, on the other side, take your pick from Holland, Italy or Spain.

Welcome to the bar... Coatbridge, Hamilton and the Glesga Provos!

Cheerio Leeds... Apple Sourz and Aftershock will be awaiting your return.

Holland v Russia tonight! Happy Days!

Spain wobble....

..... and so do I!!!!

Well, the second round of group matches is now over and I'm happy..... I get to open at 8pm now instead of 5pm!!!

Holland = Amazing

Not seen football played like that since the Lisbon Lions. Croatia look value for money, Germany can't be ruled out and either France or Spain (or both) will be out very soon. Spain march on but appear much less convincing.... the usual underachievement is beckoning??!!??!!

Hello's to Donegal, Paisley, East Kilbride, Wakefield and Leeds. A special mention for 'sleeping boy'.... see the photo album for more!!!

I'm going for a Sunday Lunch tomorrow.... my 1st proper meal in a week! Happy Days!!

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Forza España

The boys in red made a brilliant start to the tournament with a 4-1 demolition of Russia. None more happy then me with a cheeky double on both Spain and Sweden winning at 10/3!!

Welcome to the Stirling Bhoys and Ghirls..... see you tonight for a sing-song. Cheerio to Corby. hail Hail lhads!

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Go Orange!!!

After the mind-numbing boredom of the France-Romania game we were treated to an exhibition of real football by Holland and Italy! Cracking game. IF we can get a Holland/Spain final I, for one, would be more than happy!

Hi to Westport, Blackpool and all the lads from Glasgow who are with us at the moment. Nice to see Glasgow Joe back in town too! Hope you've recovered from the 1st night!

Off now to watch Spain v Russia!

Merchandise

The Huddle Bar merchandise range has finally arrived.

Lighters, LED Lighters, Keyrings, Pens and T-Shirts are now in stock.

P.S. the people waiting for your shirts...... they're on the way on Monday!

Euro 2008

Every game will be shown live in the Huddle Bar.

Kick Offs at 6pm and 8.45pm for the first 8 days then all 8.45pm after that.

P.S. I'm supporting Spain..... well, I do live here!!

Sorry for the delay...

... normal service now resumed.

Euro 2008 kicked off this evening with 2 decent games. The Czech Republic overcame a stubborn, if inefficient Swiss side 1-0 followed by Portugals 2-0 defeat of Turkey. The Portuguese look like a quality side at times yet still seem plagued by the 'sniper in the stands' issue that they are infamous for.

Cheerio to the stag partys from Paisley and Bellshill. A pleasure meeting you all.

Welcomes to Nina, Shelly and Gary, Gill And Jules, Dave from Dublin and John who sells the Evening Times outside Queen Street Station.

Welcome back also to Kev and the gang.... and best wishes to Jimmy who's not been well.

Many thanks to Kev and Kelly for the photos.... I'll add them to the website as soon as possible.

June is on it's way...

We're almost there!!! May has been steady, but quiet so now approaches the moment we've all been waiting for. All the big clubs swing into action from this weekend, more hotels open and many more flights arrive. More important than all that, of course, is that Monica is back in the next couple of days.... watch this space.

Hi to the Inverness lads who were in last night along with a member of the Inverness Caley Thistle first team! The first pro-footballer to visit the bar and he doesn't play for the Hoops.... yet.

The Ibiza Rocks hotel open this weekend with a special concert headlined by The Enemy. They have big plans for this Summer so it should bring more 'rockers' to the island. Dec and the Ground Zero crew will be pleased.

Cheerio's to the Morecambe crew, Rob and Eelco who all left last night. See you all again soon.

By the way...... some exciting news re: The Huddle Bar coming up over the next few days!!!

Phil O'Donnell Tribute Game

As this match (v Motherwell) is only being shown on Channel 67, we'll be having a special screening Monday night from 10pm for those of you wanting to see the King of Kings etc. in action.

Singing in the rain.....

Poor weather in San Antonio tonight put a dampener on proceedings but a contingent of Spaniards looking for 'Pogues music' aleviated the boredom!

Goodbyes to Luke and Anna (t-shirts in the post soon) and to the rest of todays departures. Welcome to Newport, Morcambe and Coventry.... are there any Scots here???

Come on over to my place......

Hey You, We're having a party!!!!

Well the last 24 hours have been a blast. Congratulations To Celtic on winning the League. Bar was busy with the troops enjoying a sing-song and the party continued well into the morning.

Cheerio to the folk that left for the 8am flight to Glasgow...... which eventually left at 8pm and went to Edinburgh!!

Tonight the 'title-winning after party' was just as good though I really wasn't in the mood for more drink... cheers to those who bought me one and made me drink it!!

Some familiar faces...

John 'they didnae win the big one' and Suzanne are back. They were the first 'huddlers' to visit the bar last Summer. Some others from last year are back too including the girls from Bolton, Manchester and Somerset!

The funeral is being held today for Tommy Burns. Rest in Peace.

Dundee Utd v Celtic

Thursday night from 7pm.

Come join the SPL title-winners party! Arse-baring towards Kilties at the final whistle optional!

And so it begins...

Eden and Es Paradis both opened there doors last night and it was.... decidedly average! 26€ for 2 vodkas and a fanta and that's with a discount card!!! Music was good in Eden but not what was expected from a Hacienda night.

On a much brighter note.... the huns drew 1-1 with Motherwell today. Bring on Thursday!

R.I.P. Tommy Burns

Celtic legend Tommy Burns has died at the age of 51 after losing his long-running battle against cancer.

Burns had been undergoing treatment in both Glasgow and France in recent weeks after being diagnosed in March.

The former Scotland midfielder was treated for skin cancer in 2006, but it returned earlier this year.

Burns was with Celtic from 1974 to 1989, had a spell as manager in the mid-1990s and was the club's first-team coach before being granted leave.

Singing in the rain...

yes, yes we were. A quiet yet enjoyable night in monsoon conditions. Cheerio to the Irvine crew! Welcome to the Hippy! A new sports bar opened tonight in San An. We didn't make it there as we were back in the 'fawlty towers' bar!!

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

Huns beat Motherwell

Dignity FC win a hard fought contest to register 3 more jammy points. Still, no more than was expected to be honest.

A quiet-ish night in the West End not helped by a wee drop of rain.... and some more to come for the next 2 days, then scorchio all the way till October.

A new 'fawlty towers' tribute bar opened in town tonight.... guess it wasn't meant to be though!!!

Happy Birthday...

... to Margret who turned XX years old last night and celebrated by having her first shot ever!!! Hope she's not too hung over for her boat trip today with Stevie and Stacey.

Title decider?

Our next live game will be Celtic v Hibs on Sunday.... kick-off at 13:30 local time. Should Rangers drop points on Wednesday and Saturday it could win us the League!!! See you there!

Greenock and Dublin

Another good night in The Huddle Bar, thanks to the girls from Greenock and Dublin. A special mention too for Pawel (who's back off to Czech Republic today) who kept us entertained with his dancing! Also, Tam (and Tams wife) hope you both found your apartment!!

I'm currently producing an info sheet for customers listing bars, restaurants that are recommended by us, so don't forget to ask for one when you're here.

Early Days

So, 3 days into the Summer season and it's been an encouraging start. Saturday was busy for the football (2-1 Celtic) and the night-time session was as good as ever.... just struggle to get people out at the end! C, the waitress, quit after less than 2 hours and has now been replaced by L from Dublin. Come in and ask to feel her hair!

Had our 1st Rangers fan of the season in last night. The fact that everyone in the bar, including his girlfriend, was a Celtic fan meant that he was in for a bit of a ribbing! The banter flowed!

So, Rangers draw with Hibs puts us 7 points clear though they have 3 games in hand. I have a good feeling about this!

Today is the anniversary of the death of Vol. Bobby Sands. R.I.P.

Opening Night

Thanks to everyone who made the opening party tonight such a success. Here's to the rest of the Summer being such fun!

2 sadder points to the day;

Anti-football F.C. somehow made it to the UEFA cup final
BNP got almost 70,000 votes in the London mayoral election

Coincidence......?????

2 days to go!

Well, we're fast approaching Friday, the official opening party for 2008. All is progressing smoothly so hopefully we'll be ready on time.

Welcome to C who'll be our first waitress of the Summer, though Monica is due back in June..... she'll probably be late though!!!
